Printed Circuit Board FAQ’s
Before you consider having a contract manufacturer build your assemblies, you may consider answering the questions below. The answers to these questions may help you and your company save time and save money through the manufacturing process as well as help you select Argo Transdata Corporation as your Contract Manufacturer.
- Is my assembly required to be RoHS Compliant? We can accommodate both chemistries.
- Does my assembly require components on both sides? We can work with through hole and surface mount on both sides.
- It is less expensive to place surface mount components than through hole components. Does the assembly utilize as many surface mount components as possible? We may be able to help you with board layout and re-design as needed.
- Most inter-connections are made with through hole connectors. Can the assembly be built without overhang of the connectors on any side of the assembly? If you still require overhang, we can provide fixturing that will help in the assembly process and maintain the original board design.
- Does the BOM list manufacturer and manufacturer’s part numbers? Having all information possible will greatly help and speed up our quoting and purchasing processes.
- Is the ASCII File for the CAD information available? This file is a great tool used to program out pick & place machines. We can help extract this file from your CAD database.
- If supplying surface mount components, are the components mounted on reels, cut tape or loose?
- Have you considered component and assembly lead times and blanket orders covering 12-15 months?
- If scheduled releases, have you considered the frequency of shipments or batch size of the assemblies?
- Does your product require UL, CA, NAFTA, Certificate of Compliance or other such certification to be included with each shipment?
- If shipping overseas, does your product require ITAR registration?
